Being (productively) Different

The soul behind this whole blog is, "I want positive change."  And change requires, well, change.  I know, mind blowing information I'm delivering you here, but sometimes it's important to start with the basics.

We've entered into an era where the only way to "fit-in" is to "be different".  And I get it, everyone wants to be accepted as an individual, but I see a lot of people trying to be different just for the sheer sake of being different, not because it has any real purpose, gain, or meaning.

When I'm talking about being 'Different', I'm talking about being different as a bi-product of striving for excellence. It's the kind of different my dad eluded to when I was kid. Successful people still put their pants on one foot at a time, just like everyone else.  But it's what they do after that that sets them apart from everyone else.

So I challenge you to be productively different today.  Read a self-development book.  Spend some time setting goals and write them down.  Decide where you want to be in 5 years and take a hard look at what you're doing -- will it get you there?  Evaluate and make some changes.  Do something that puts you closer to achieving excellence.  And as a bi-product, if you keep doing little things day after day, you're going to suddenly find that you're different from the mass.  And that, I think, is pretty cool.
